Legal Studies

Thank you for your interest in Year 12 Legal Studies.

We only run sessions for this subject in the Term 2 and 3 Holiday Seminars.

Legal Studies revision seminars at Adelaide Tuition Centre help students strengthen their understanding of the key concepts and topics studied throughout the school term. Each holiday seminar reflects the content students have recently covered in class, revisiting important areas such as the Australian legal system, sources of law, rights and responsibilities, and the analysis of legal issues and cases, while reinforcing understanding through clear explanations and guided revision.

Sessions follow a consistent structure across the year, with Term 3 Seminars placing a strong focus on exam preparation, including targeted exam revision and guidance on how to answer questions according to the marker’s expectations.

To revise as much as possible, it is recommended to attend all the seminars listed below. However, this is not compulsory and you may choose any combination of sessions.

  John graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Classical Studies and Philosophy, and from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Education. John is passionate about curriculum and methodology, especially the encouragement of critical thinking through assessment design. He has taught senior Legal Studies, English, and Integrated Learning, and Middle School English and Humanities, across Independent schools in South Australia. John has worked with the SACE Board in a number of capacities for over ten years, including Subject Renewal, Examination Setting, Examination Marking and Moderation. He also taught Legal Studies Curriculum and Methodology at the University of Adelaide in 2020. John is the Vice President of the Legal Education Teachers’ Association of South Australia and is currently a teacher of senior Legal Studies, English and Integrated Learning at Pulteney Grammar School, where he is also Head of English and SACE Coordinator.
